Camp Summer Garden is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting the inclusion and participation of children with autism in developmentally appropriate educational and enrichment programs. At Camp Summer Garden, we create a welcoming and inclusive environment where every child can thrive. With our low staff-to-child ratios, structured schedule, and active learning strategies, we ensure that each child receives the attention and support they need to be successful.
In addition to our summer camp activities, we offer an afterschool enrichment program called the Social Skills Squad. This program is designed to help children develop important social skills, including communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution, all while having fun. Through group games and interactive activities, our program empowers children by building their confidence in social settings and helping them navigate social interactions with ease.

By offering a 1:3 adult-to-child ratio and a small group size, we ensure personalized attention and support for the children.
The entire team
completes comprehensive training in autism-specific strategies.
Activities are be structured to provide
predictability and routine while allowing for individualized accommodations.
Through carefully planned activities and facilitated interactions, children will have opportunities to practice social skills with their peers.
Visual schedules, social stories, and sensory-friendly practices will be integrated into daily programming to enhance comprehension and promote engagement.
The Social Skills Squad is a fun and interactive program designed to help children develop essential social skills. Through group games and interactive activities children learn communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution in a supportive environment.

Social Skills Squad Meetings are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30pm-6pm at the Lake Jackson Community Center
Cost: $50 per month (scholarships available)

The Summer 2025 Camp will be held during the following weeks:
Week 1: June 2-6
"Minecraft Building Block Basics – Introduction to STEM"
STEM Focus: Geometry and Structures
Focus: Campers will learn about basic shapes, angles, and geometry through building simple structures in Minecraft. They'll explore how engineers use these concepts to design buildings in the real world.
Week 2: June 9-13
"Minecraft Transportation – Building and Designing Vehicles"
STEM Focus: Engineering and Transportation Systems
Focus: Campers will learn about different transportation systems, including land, air, and sea travel, while designing their own vehicles in Minecraft. They will explore the basics of engineering, propulsion, and vehicle dynamics, creating cars, planes, and boats.
Week 3: June 16-18 and 20
Closed on June 19 (Juneteenth Holiday)
"Minecraft Engineering – Building with Circuits"
STEM Focus: Electricity and Circuitry
Focus: Kids will dive into the world of Minecraft, creating circuits and learning basic electrical engineering principles, such as how electrical systems work in real life. They’ll explore logic gates, switches, and powering devices in a fun, hands-on way.
Week 4: July 7-11
"The Music of Minecraft – Composing and Soundscapes"
STEM Focus: Music Theory, Sound Design, and Composition
Focus: This week, campers will explore the captivating world of Minecraft's music and sound design. They'll dive into the fundamentals of music theory, including rhythm, melody, and harmony, and experiment with how different sounds impact emotions and gameplay. Whether it's crafting peaceful melodies for a village or dramatic scores for a dungeon, this week will inspire creativity and introduce kids to the art of musical composition and sound design in the Minecraft world!
Week 5: July 14-18
"Minecraft Robotics – Moving Parts and Machines"
STEM Focus: Robotics and Automation
Focus: Campers will learn basic concepts in robotics and automation. They'll create mechanical devices and simple robots in Minecraft, understanding the basic principles behind real-world robotics and automation systems.
Week 6: July 21-25
"Minecraft Chemistry – Potions and Reactions"
STEM Focus: Chemistry, Reactions, and Mixtures
Focus: Campers will learn about chemistry through Minecraft’s potion-making system, experimenting with different ingredients and creating potions with various effects. They'll explore the science behind chemical reactions, mixtures, and solutions, and gain a basic understanding of how chemical engineering plays a role in everyday life. They’ll also discover how Minecraft mirrors some real-world chemical processes.

Hours: 9am-3pm
*Extended Care option available 3pm-6pm*
Cost: $250 per week (without extended care); $300 per week (with extended care)
